Christmas makes me write sad drabbles/fics

Her mouth pressed firmly against his, she kissed him. She couldn’t stop kissing him. Over and over and over and over again. She wanted to exhale her very last breath into his mouth. To die here and now. In this house, in this room, in this bed. In the arms of this man.

But things never go as planned.

She was going to die in an ordinary hospital room next month and everything will be over. She will become a piece of cold meat, slowly eaten by worms. Then a skeleton, and finally, a pile of dust. She will disappear, as will her memories, her gestures, her sensations… she will cease to exist and be nothing anymore.

But she didn’t care.

Because at that exact second, she was here. She was with him. And she was his entire universe.

Arthur slightly leaned back in his seat, looking up at his partner-in-crime while still chewing his salad. “Overhear what?”

Cobb’s eyes flickered up to Arthur’s before returning back to the small table in front of him.

“That I might be falling in love with you.”

Arthur stared at Cobb for a few long moments, completely unprepared for the words he just heard. He soon changed the intensity of his eyes and looked at the man across from him with a sharper gaze.

“No, I didn’t, Dom.”

Cobb quickly realized what he had just said, however misinterpreting Arthur’s expressions and registering them as a paroxysm of discomfort or animosity.

He refused to look at Arthur at all, keeping his his vision focused on the rim of the wine glass.

Cobb just wished the plane would land sooner.

Randomly came up with this idea while sifting through Inception caps a week or so ago.

I pretty much pulled this out of my ass. I’m so horribly cheesy with my ~~dialogue~~ writing in general.

Anyways.

“Consider it a gift,” he says, smiling, “for the amusement you have brought me. In any case, I have many more such horses.”

“You have more of these?” Arthur says, before he remembers that Saito is a man who paid genuine price for a statue he knew to be fake, just for the fuck of it.

“I bought the breeding stock,” Saito says, with the easy good humour of the appallingly wealthy. “It seemed neater.”

Eames came back, years later, with the same smile but it’s a little hardened around the edges. He offered no excuses yet wore his uniform proudly. People stared at us and I could only stare at him.

“C’mon Nick,” he said, grabbing my hand, “I have something to show you.”

“It’s Dom,” I said, pulling away but he just grinned, still grasping my hand, our fingers entwined.

“Don’t be like that,” he said, giving another tug, “I’m about to grant you your biggest wish. Remember what you’ve always wanted when we were young?”

“Dreams,” I murmured, the memory bright inside my mind, Eames pressing me down onto his bed, whispering against my jaw how he’ll make my wish come true one day.

“Yeah,” smiled Eames, and he stepped close, pressing his lips to my temple, “I’ve got it, Nick, it’s in Paris, waiting. A professor with the knowledge, a young man with the technology, and a beautiful woman with the skills. What do you say?”

“I say you’re crazy,” but a smile was already blooming on my face and Eames kissed me, then and there, tasting like home.
