“Let’s be young men together again.” Enough said. Jk. Saito, the mega-mammoth of unexplained wealth. Cobb, a reputable man who’s Saito has clearly heard of. They’re at the top of their respective fields and you know what they say about success and loneliness. They go hand in hand, baby. But that’s not enough. Because Saito/Robert probably falls under that scope too. What you’ve got is Cobb, who’s clearly a compassionate guy who’s easily swayed by circumstance and Saito, well, he’s an agent of circumstance. This can easily lead to a relationship of mutual benefits. Cobb, who needs this and that, and Saito who’s got wealth of a thousand Arabian Nights. Glorified sugar daddy? Maybe. But Cobb’s got his ego and he won’t stand for that for much longer than he’s comfortable with. (Maybe after he gets his passage into the States, eh? Eh?) Saito, on the other hand, seems like the type of person who’d go after something with the might of the British Armada. He’s got resources and he’s not afraid to use them. Cobb’s got his family but he doesn’t have anyone else, does he? And Saito’s an honorable man who acknowledges the value of the people he’s worked with. Lonely Cobb, meet determined (and equally lonely) Saito. :-)
